Game day for the Aberdeenshire Quines. 2pm kick off against Ayr down at Woodside. #redandblack

Photos from Aberdeenshire Quines Rugby's post

Today saw the Aberdeenshire Quines host the Stewartry Sirens at a very wet and muddy Woodside.

The game started with the Quines kicking off to the Sirens. From the kick off Quines took it to the opposition with good communication and some hard hits.

Dominating in the Sirens 22 it didn't take Quines long to get the ball over the line with number 1, Chisholm, taking a quick tap penalty from the 5 m line and scoring the first points of the day.

Quines continued to work throughout the first half and another try came from some good forward play. Number 3, Forsyth took the ball on breaking through the Sirens defence and offloading to number 7, Rutsaert, who scored under the posts.

The rest of the first half saw hard work from both sides but no change in the score line.

After half time the Sirens came back with vengeance and this new found attack saw the opposition run some good phases, shipping the ball out to their backs and scoring out wide.

Quines regrouped and got there game faces back on, getting back in control of the game. With the forwards working some hard phases, an overlap was created. Good hands and an impressive dummy by number 13, McGregor allowed her to score in the bottom corner.

The Sirens played hard for the last 10 minutes of the game but the Quines defence held strong and took the win 15-5.

The Aberdeenshire Quines left a mild Aberdeen this morning with 14 men to head to Myreside to play Watsonians.

The Quines arrived to be greeted by a howling wind and serious black clouds but got kitted up for what was going to be a tough game with 1 man down and 4 girls pulling on the red and black jersey for the first time.

Quines got a score on the boards in the first 10 minutes with some forward dominated play that let the backs move the ball out wide, some good support play and quick thinking by number 8, Butcher, saw the Quines push over the line.

The first half saw a further two tries for the Quines. The scrum dominated by red and black meant there was a lot of stolen possession allowing some great breaks by our 12. Supported by the 10 and 13 allowing 13, Rutsaert, to score twice in the top corner. With one being converted by number 9, Aitken.

The second half saw the elements really turn against us but both teams kept their heads in the game, with number 3, Waldenfels crashing the ball over the line after some good forward phases.

The Quines focus slipped 70 minutes in allowing Watsonians to pass out to their dangerous number 12, Runcie, who ran a try in around the Quines defence from her own 5 m line. The try was converted.

The Quines got back in the game, with number 12, McGregor, taking full advantage of a stollen ball from open play and scoring in the last minute.

Weather beaten but proud, 14 Quines walked off the pitch with a win and smiles on their faces. #RedandBlack
